Nursery

Our nursery class is called Ducks:

Class Teacher: Mrs Woodward

Class LSAs: Miss Eaton & Mrs Vosakiwaiwai

Additional cover/support: Mrs Henry, Miss Martin, Mrs Mills, Miss Morris

Key Information:

Clothing: Nursery children are welcome to wear the Knights Enham uniform or their own clothes from home. We ask that all clothes are clearly named (including shoes, hats, coats etc.) and that they are suitable for wearing at nursery where your children will be running, jumping, painting, cooking and exploring the world around them! School have a wide range of wellies and waterproofs but you are welcome to send in your own, clearly named.

Food: Each day your child needs a named water bottle with plain water inside - we will top these up throughout the day as needed. You do not need to send any snacks into school as these are provided both morning and afternoon as well as the offer of milk. If your child cannot drink milk due to allergies, please speak with Mrs Woodward to arrange sending in a suitable alternative if needed.

If your child is in for the full day session or the afternoon you can order a paid for school lunch before the day begins through the Arbor App (or by ordering at the office - this can be done a week in advance). Some families may be entitled to a free school lunch - please check with the office staff for more information. Alternatively, you may send in a balanced packed lunch (with no nuts or nut-based products e.g. Nutella). We are unable to heat up food in school.

Timings: For all sessions, children are to be dropped off or collected from the main classroom door within the set times. If you miss the allocated times you will need to go to the main school office to drop-off or collect.
Morning session: 9-12 (doors open at 8:45 allowing 15 minutes to drop off and at collection the gate/door will be locked at 12:10 allowing 10 minutes for collection). You are welcome to wait at the gate in preparation for collection, the gate will be opened a few minutes before collection time in order to keep the school site safe.
Afternoon session: 12-3 (the gate will be opened a few minutes before drop off time and collection time in order to keep the school site safe). The classroom door closes at 3:10 at which time, any uncollected children will be taken to the office for collection.
All day session: 9-3 (doors open at 8:45 allowing 15 minutes to drop off). The classroom door closes at 3:10 at which time, any uncollected children will be taken to the office for collection.

We are aware that at times you may be unavoidably running - if you know you will not be able to collect your chid on time and somebody else on your collection list won't make it before the end of collection time, please call the office in advance so we are aware and can make sure your child knows you're on the way.

What does our Early Years curriculum look like?

Our EYFS team worked closely together to create a curriculum that starts with our 2 year old children and supports them on their journey until they finish Reception ready to move to Key Stage 1. Our curriculum is based around 4 aspirations for children to reach by the end of their time in Reception and there are stages carefully planned throughout their time in nursery to lay the foundations and skills to reach these goals. Each of the aspirations links to one or more of our Knights' Way values. The main values we focus on through these aspirations are 'collaboration' and 'nurture'. Across the aspirations there are learning opportunities for the Prime and Specific Areas of the EYFSP.

Our aspirations for all children by the end of their time in the EYFS are:

Design & build an obstacle course then show others how to use it.

Make up a collaborative story with peers & act it out using props they have made themselves.

Teach younger children how to care for an animal.

Growing vegetables to make soup.
